At present, the nuclear sector is ~22% female, which is made up of 12% within the Defence sector and 28% in the Civil Nuclear. Aspirational targets have been set for the nuclear workforce to reach 40% female by the year 2030.
This comprehensive resource bank collates Equality, Diversity and & Inclusiveness (ED&I) information and initiatives relevant to the UK nuclear industry in a single, interactive source.
It is targeted at companies in the sector who are interested in improving their approach to D&I, but who may not be aware of the vast range of resources available.
The resource can also be used by nuclear industry employees who wish to learn more about D&I initiatives.
It is not intended to be all-encompassing, nor is the inclusion of a specific initiative or programme an endorsement.
It is a general tool to raise awareness of the wide number of E, D&I activities and initiatives developed with a specific Protected Characteristic in mind.
The document has been produced under the leadership of Olivia Thompson, Head of Technical Skills and Capability at the National Nuclear Laboratory; Olivia is also the Diversity and Inclusion lead for the NSSG.
