All Party Parliamentary Group on Apprenticeships

The APPG on Apprenticeships has recently published its first Report in which it makes several recommendations to Government to strengthen the apprenticeship system in England. It notes the disproportionate effect of the pandemic on young people and geographical areas already disadvantaged.

Highlights of the report’s recommendations include:

  • Better links between apprenticeships and HE provision through reform of the UCAS system
  • Support for apprentices’ mental health
  • Flexibility on the use of Apprenticeship Levy, and the amount that can be transferred
  • Updating  delivery and assessment methods, including online delivery
  • Better support for small businesses considering apprenticeships
  • Improved strategic links between apprenticeships, Kickstart and T Levels
  • Raising the Apprentice Minimum Wage to the National Minimum Wage
